Clare Local Authorities have been awarded the ‘Excellence Through People Standard’, following a rigorous examination of processes conducted by FÁS.
FÁS Excellence through People is Ireland’s National Standard for Human Resource Management. It focuses on the areas of Communications & People Involvement, Learning & Development, Leadership, People Management, Recruitment and Selection, Employee Welfare, and Business Planning & Quality Improvement.
FÁS Assessors examined policies, processes and procedures within the organisation under these areas. As part of the assessment they met with over 50 staff at the Clare County Council Headquarters in Ennis and in a number of Area Offices.
Clare Local Authorities has held the ‘Excellence Through People Standard’ since 2002 and the current award is valid up until December, 2012.
Acknowledging the present, extremely challenging times that Clare Local Authorities and its staff operate within, the County Manager, Mr Tom Coughlan stated: “This award shows the continued commitment of staff to delivering Business Planning and quality improvements, ensuring effective communication and continually encouraging active staff involvement, to a culture of learning and development, to an equal opportunities recruitment and selection process, and the health, safety and well-being of all employees in a fair and non-discriminatory manner.”
The assessors commented on the warm welcome and the assistance they enjoyed throughout their visit to Clare Local Authorities. Fás extended their gratitude to all staff working in Clare Local Authorities whose assistance, hard work, and genuine commitment to deliver quality services, resulted in the excellence award being presented to Clare Local Authorities.
