Live Register numbers jump by 75pc in Clare - 96pc in Tulla

Detailed figures released today by the CSO on this week's Live Register show that County Clare experienced a 75% increase in the number of people signing on the Live Register between June 2008 and June 2009.

There was a 5% increase last month on the May 2009 figure. In the period June 2008 to June 2009, the numbers signing on increased by 75% in Ennis, 67% in Kilrush, 96% in Tulla and 70% in Ennistymon. CLICK ON ABOVE IMAGE FOR LARGER VIEW.

The CSO figures on this week's Live Register also show that the West suffered more than any other region in June. The unadjusted Live Register increased to 418,592 in June from 396,871 in May, a monthly increase of 21,721 (+5.5pc). This increase was reflected in all regions, with the largest percentage increase in the West region (+6.7pc).
