Transatlantic routes to be cut

There are reports that Aer Lingus is set to announce the scrapping of a number of transatlantic services out of Shannon this winter.

Reports in today's Irish Times suggest the airline plans to axe Shannon flights to New York and Chicago from its schedule. It also suggests that services out of Dublin to Washington and San Francisco may be dropped.

An announcement is expected to be made this afternoon.
