Second SF Councillor resigns from party

The Sinn Fein party is facing somewhat of a crisis tonight after the second Councillor in an many weeks resigned from the party.

New Ross Town Councillor John Dwyer announced today he was resigning from the party. Mr Dwyer is a former General Election candidate who lost his seat on Wexford County Councillor at the recent local elections.

Sinn Féin general secretary Dawn Doyle issued a statement this morning describing the move as disappointing and urging him to "return his seat to the party". Sinn Féin also adopted a similar stance last week when Dublin City Councillor Christy Burke resigned from the party.
