Ireland's newest music festival announced

A top class line-up of Irish acts has been confirmed for INIS Fest, a music festival taking place in Ennis, County Clare, from June 26-28th 2015.

Organised by Impresario Events, the inaugural event features Damien Dempsey, Delorentos, Nathan Carter, The Kilfenora Céilí Band, Hermitage Green, Frankie Gavin and De Dannan, Finbar Furey and more acts to be announced.

The three-day festival will see Active Ennis Tim Smythe Park being transformed into a world-class venue with a 3000-person capacity big top tent and an entertainment and leisure area featuring a Ferris wheel and food/drink stalls.

Nightly (€27) and Weekend (€72) festival tickets go on sale from this Friday (20th February) at www.inisfest.com and directly through local charities Clare Crusaders, Lions Club of Ennis and Rape Crisis MidWest, each of which will benefit from the event.

INIS Fest also includes a free family music event on Sunday afternoon in addition to the ticketed evening events of INIS Rock (Friday), INIS Country (Saturday) and INIS Trad (Sunday).

Mayor of Ennis, Johnny Flynn has pledged his support to the event, which organisers claim is worth more than 1.5 million euro to the local economy.

"INIS Fest is a real win for the people of Clare and surrounding counties, who now have a fantastic music festival right on their doorstep," he said.

"The festival will deliver huge benefits for the local economy and the tourist sector, while it will also help to promote the Clare County Capital as a vibrant and interesting place to visit. I have heard that some Clare people abroad are planning to return home for the weekend which underlines the sense of community that this event will also bring," added Mayor Flynn.

“The first INIS Fest will see three differently themed days allowing for a rich musical mix and allowing us to suit all ages and musical tastes," explained Darren Purtill of Impresario Events.

"In addition staging a new large-scale music festival in Ennis, we are also happy to support Ennis and County Clare in celebrating Ennis’ 775 anniversary, give local bands an opportunity to play on a big stage, increase tourism to the area, support local charities through ticket sales, and work with the relevant stakeholders to further develop an event that becomes an annual feature on the local and national festivals calendar," said Mr. Purtill.

INIS Fest is being sponsored by Dublin Bus (Official Travel Partner), Clare FM Radio (Official Media Partner), McDonalds Ennis and Shannon, Treacy's West County Hotel, Flynns Pharmacy, Knox Pub & Restaurant and Realprint, and supported by Clare County Council, An Garda Síochána and Clare Civil Defence.
