151 groups register with Clare Public Participation Network

The first of four Municipal District Meetings regarding the setting up of the Clare Public Participation Network (PPN) will take place in Ennis this coming Monday (19 January 2015).

151 groups and organisations in Clare's community and voluntary, social inclusion and environmental sectors have registered their interest in participating in the newly established Network, which is aimed at enhancing and expanding the role played by the public in the formulation of local government policy and the future development of local communities across Clare.

A Clare County PPN will now be established along with a PPN in each of Clare's four Municipal Districts, namely Ennis, Shannon, Killaloe and West Clare. PPN members will be able to nominate representatives to the Council's primary decision making bodies, including the Strategic Policy Committees (SPC).

The breakdown by Municipal District of the organisations registered is Ennis (61), West Clare (45), Shannon (23) and Killaloe (22).

Municipal District PPN meetings for registered members take place in the Temple Gate Hotel in Ennis (Monday, 19th January), the Oakwood Arms Hotel in Shannon (Thursday, 22nd January), the Falls Hotel in Ennistymon (Monday, 26th January), and the Lakeside Hotel in Killaloe (Wednesday, 28th January). The purpose of these meetings is to elect one representative from each Municipal District to the County PPN Secretariat.
