Richard Lynch to host Limerick Going for Gold grand final

The founder of the ILoveLimerick website, Richard Lynch was today confirmed as the master of ceremonies at the Limerick Going for Gold Grand Final in September.

Run by Limerick City Council in association with the JP McManus Charitable Foundation, Limerick Going for Gold encourages businesses, community groups and individuals to improve their areas by getting involved in the National TidyTowns Competition and generally improving their areas and reducing the impact of litter across the City.

The initiative, which has a €50,000 prize fund, is supported by Live 95FM, Limerick Leader, Limerick Chronicle, Limerick Post, I Love Limerick, Limerick Communication Office, Southern Advertising and the Parkway Shopping Centre.

Mayor of Limerick Kathleen Leddin invited Richard Lynch to a picnic lunch at Curragower Park on Clancy Strand today (Friday, 9th August) to discuss the Going for Gold campaign and surprised the website founder with an invite to be the master of ceremonies at next month’s grand final.

ilovelimerick.ie was established by Richard in 2010 and showcases the efforts and achievements of community-based organisations in Limerick City.

“Richard has been a great supporter to the Limerick Going for Gold Campaign and I thought he would make a fabulous MC at the Going for Gold Grand Final,” explained Mayor Leddin.

“The ILoveLimerick website is a wonderful platform for showcasing the breadth and scale of work being carried out by Limerick-based organisations. The website encourages a wider respect and pride for the city by focusing on the wealth of interesting, talented and motivated people who live, work and create here by highlighting everything positive about Limerick. Therefore, we felt Richard would make an ideal master of ceremonies for next month’s grand final and we are delighted he has accepted our invitation.”

Speaking today, Richard said: “I am thrilled to have been invited to MC the Limerick Going for Gold Grand Final. I have been involved with the campaign over the last number of years.  It is inspiring to see communities come together to reach a common goal; that is making Limerick a cleaner brighter place to work live and visit.”
