Fine Gael Senator Tony Mulcahy today reminded Clare farmers that they have until Friday 2nd November 2012 to submit applications for pre-planting approval under the 2013 Bioenergy Scheme.
The Bioenergy Scheme 2013 was announced on 1st August 2012. The Scheme was first was first piloted in 2007.
According to Senator Mulcahy: "Miscanthus and willow are biomass crops and are grown to provide feedstock for use in the renewable energy market. Establishment grants are payments to cover part of the costs of establishment. Eligible costs include ground preparation, fencing, vegetation control, the purchase of planting stock and planting.”
"In order to facilitate potential applicants, advisors and contractors with additional time to consider the suitability of land for planting miscanthus or willow crops under the Scheme, the Minister for Agriculture feels it would be beneficial to extend the deadline for receipt of applications for pre-planting approval until Friday 2nd November 2012,” he added.
