Speaking at the launch of the event, Phelim Macken, Coordinator with the County Limerick Sports Partnership explained: “The Ballyhoura Get BACk Challenge is the first event of its kind in the Mid West region and will cater for a broad standard of mountain bikers and anyone interested in trying out mountain biking for the first time. We have secured discounted bike hire for the day for anyone who wants to turn up and have a go on this fantastic recreational resource. We are confident that first timers will return while the 35km route is designed to challenge any level of cyclist.”
“With the support of the local Ballyhoura Mountain Bike club we have fully marshalled routes so plenty of local knowledge is available for all participants. We have calculated an average time for beginners to complete selected routes at 2 hours for 17km course and 4 hours for 35km route”, added. Mr. Macken.
