Two of three precautionary boil notices in place in Co Limerick have been lifted by Limerick County Council.
The local authority confirmed this afternoon that following water quality monitoring, consultation with and advice from the Health Service Executive, it is now in a position to remove boil water notices affecting customers served by the Kilmallock Public Water Supply and Newcastle West Public Water Supply.
A third boil water notice affecting customers served by the Abbeyfeale Public Water Supply remains in place pending the completion of additional water quality tests on that supply.
Areas supplied by the Newcastle West Water Scheme include Newcastle West Town and environs, Coolcappagh, Rathcahill, Ballyine Group Water Scheme, Dually Group Water Scheme, Killoughteen Group Water Scheme, Killeline Group Water Scheme, Old Mill Group Water Scheme, Reens Kilscannell Group Water Scheme.
Areas supplied by the Kilmallock Water Scheme include Kilmallock Town, Kilmallock Townland, Knocksouna, Tankardstown North, Tankardstown South, Ballygubba North, Ballygubba South, Mount Fox, Steales, Ballyania, Cullamus, Ballycullane, ArdKilmartin, Garrynoe, Ardyoul, Kilmallock Hill, Abbeyfarm, Proonts, Coolroe, Bawntard North, Bawntard South, Fairyfield Glebe, Mountcoote, Millmount, Deebert, Gotoon, Gortboy, Portauns, Ash Hill, Glenfield, Breesheen North, Breesheen South, Kilbreedy, Thomastown,Treanlewis, Tobernea, Tobernea East, Ballingaddy South,Ballingaddy North, Graiganster.
Mr. Paul Crowe, Director of Services, Limerick County Council said: “Everyone can now resume normal use of the water supply, including for drinking, food preparation and brushing teeth. The Local Authority / Health Service Executive Water Liaison Group will continue monitoring drinking water supplies.”
Mr. Crowe added: “Limerick County Council acknowledges the patience, cooperation and assistance of the general public during the period of the boil water notice and greatly regrets any inconvenience caused to householders and the business community.”
