Limerick County Council is advising consumers that due to the necessity to carry out repairs on the water supply network following the recent thaw and the low levels in reservoirs, it will be necessary to shut off water supplies.
Water will be shut off this evening and restored tomorrow morning. The following are the areas particularly affected this evening but as the water supply is being constantly monitored other areas may also experience reduced water pressure or water shut offs:
- Devon Rd to Tournafulla including Tournafulla Village shut off from 6pm this evening with water being restored at 9am tomorrow.
- Devon Rd to Mountmahon shut off from 6pm this evening with water being restored at 9am tomorrow.
- Rathcahill shut off from 6pm this evening with water being restored at 9am tomorrow.
- Meenoline South, Caher Res including Killarney Road Abbeyfeale and Knocknasna Booster shut off from 6pm this evening with water being restored at 9am tomorrow.
- Athea Area shut off from 6pm this evening with water being restored at 9am tomorrow.
- Templeglantine Area shut off from 6pm this evening with water being restored at 9am tomorrow.
- Ballagh Area shut off from 6pm this evening with water being restored at 9am tomorrow.
- Hospital, Herbertstown, Galbally and Kilfinane may experience reduced water pressure and have water shut off this evening.
Areas other than those mentioned above may also have night time restrictions in service until water levels are restored to normal.
Where there are water shut offs, it can take a number of hours for areas at the extremity of watermains and hilly areas to have their water supply restored once the supply is turned back on.
In addition, due to breakages in watermains, unannounced disruptions to water supply can also be expected during daytime hours pending repairs of such breakages. Householders are again requested to check for burst pipes in their houses and the owners/landlords of unoccupied houses are also requested to check for leaks and burst pipes in unoccupied houses.
