03 Jan Water Supplies Update From Co Clare

Demand for water is still exceeding supply capacity on some water supplies in County Clare, Clare County Council said today.
The Council’s leak detection and repair crews will be working constantly through today’s public holiday (assisted by Contractors). The Council telephone lines are also operating today.

In order to conserve the supply the council is taking the following actions

Water will be cut off until further notice at the following locations and at the time specified:
-    Gort Road Ennis (from Aughanteeroe to Barefield) from 8.00pm to 8.00am
-    Shannon, Newmarket on Fergus, Sixmilebridge, Kilmurray, Kilkishen, Bunratty, Cratloe, Quin and Tulla from 8.00pm to 8.00am
-    O’Briensbridge, Clonlara, Broadford, Shannon Banks, Westbury, Parteen, Ardnacrusha, Scarriff (Bog Road), Coolisteigue from 8.00pm to 8.00am
-    Corofin, Ruan, Ennistymon, Lahinch, Liscannor from 8.00pm to 8.00am.

Standpipes will continue to operate at the following locations from 10.00 am to 12 noon each day until further notice:
-    Ennis/Clarecastle: Cappahard, Tulla Road; Health Centre, Clarecastle
-    Shannon: Gleann an Oir
-    Cratloe: Wood Cross from 1.00pm to 3.00pm each day until further notice

Tankers will supply water to the following locations each day until further notice at the time specified:

The Councils Emergency number (should only be used to report major bursts and leaks in public areas) is 087-4169496 which operates from 5.00pm each evening to 9.30am the next morning. This number is to facilitate emergencies only such as leaks in the public areas. From 9.30am to 5.00pm please contact the Council’s main office number at 065-6821616.

The Council appreciates the patience of the public in dealing with these shut offs.  Without the shut-offs supplies would be even more depleted.  Consumers can expect a delay in resumption of supply after water is restored at the time indicated while the mains are recharging for several hours.  Furthermore, consumers on the periphery of schemes or on high ground can expect even greater delays in restoration of normal supply and pressure.  In this regard all consumers are again requested to use water conservatively to ensure greater supply to all.

The supply situation is improving and will be back to near normal within approximately 3 days with some isolated exceptions.
