Minister for Defence and Clare Fianna Fail T.D, Mr. Tony Killeen today confirmed that 10 units of accommodation at the John Paul estate in Kilrush are to be retrofitted.
Minister Killeen said the works, which will commence in late 2010 or early 2011, represent a further phase of the remedial works project at the West Clare estate.
He explained: “The Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government has provided funding of €4.5 million for the remedial works project at the John Paul Estate over the period 2007 to 2010. The pilot phase of the project included construction and refurbishment of a total of 28 units.”
“I have been informed by my colleague Minister for Housing and Local Services Michael Finneran that a further phase of the project involving the retrofitting of ten units will commence shortly. The Department is in regular contact with Clare Local Authorities with a view to early progression of the project, and is committed to it under the 2009-2011 Remedial Works Programme”, Minister Killeen added.
