Travel Agents Issue Plea To Aer Lingus

US travel agents are pleading with Aer Lingus not to cut transatlantic services at Shannon, saying their customers prefer to use Shannon for access to the West and for the relative ease of getting in and out of the airport, the Limerick Leader reports today.

The Strand Hotel, Limerick, hosted 85 travel agents from the United States and Canada for the North American Destination Expo Workshop organised by Tourism Ireland, Failte Ireland and Shannon Development. They were in Ireland for a number of days meeting tourist trade representatives here.

But some expressed worry at Aer Lingus' radical cost-cutting plans.
