Determined Limerick became the first team to qualify for the Munster SFC final, following a four-point semi-final win over the Banner at Cusack Park today. Mickey Ned O'Sullivan's charges signalled their intent with Stephen Laffan firing home a fourth-minute goal as the visitors took a 1-03 to 0-00 lead, reports RTE.
A Gary Brennan goal helped Clare respond strongly, with the sides level at 1-07 apiece at half-time. However, Frank Doherty's side only managed two second half points with Ian Ryan and Ger Collins keeping Limerick on top. Michael O'Shea attempted to revive Clare's challenge late on, but the damage was done for his side who now face into the All-Ireland qualifiers on July 4.
