Longford beat Donegal in high scoring hurling clash

Longford 5-15 Donegal 2-22

A powerful second-half surge in this Lory Meagher Cup goal-fest at Devine Park, Edgeworthstown earned hosts Longford a four-point win against Ulster side Donegal. Donegal, who were favourites to win this encounter, were given a stern examination by Matty McLoughlin's Longford side.

Joe O'Brien scored a hat-trick of goals for the eventual winners, while Jonathan Minnock scored their other two goals.

Galway Utd return to winning ways

Finn Harps 0 Galway United 3

Vinny Faherty scored twice as Galway eased past 10-man Harps before a small crowd at Ballybofey.

Faherty headed Galway in front on 16 minutes from Iarfhlaith Davoren’s cross, reports breakingnews.ie. Harps hopes suffered a big blow when midfielder Michael Funston was sent off on the half-hour for retaliating to a foul by John Russell.

Galway then scored twice inside a minute early in the second half to seal their win. Faherty got his second on 50 minutes with skipper Jay O’Shea adding the third.

Cork win Munster replay

Cork 1-17 Kerry 0-12

Having seen a five-point lead reeled in last Sunday, Cork made no mistakes in seeing off Kerry in today's Munster SFC semi-final replay at Páirc Uí Chaoimh.

Aside from early on in the game, when Kerry got the first two points, Cork never trailed, and showed great character to pull away again in the second half after seeing a five-point half-time advantage wiped out within 10 minutes of the restart, reports breakingnews.ie. The catalyst for that revitalisation by the home side was a Donncha O’Connor penalty after Daniel Goulding had been fouled.

After that Cork never looked back, finishing far stronger than their visitors.
