Man killed in Oranmore RTA

A man has died following a road traffic accident near Oranmore, Co Galway, this morning.

The crash happened at 8.20am when the car the man was travelling in entered a field at Carnmore Cross near the N6.

GardaĆ­ are treating the incident as sudden death, RTE News reports. The man in his 50s was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been taken to Galway University Hospital where a postmortem will be carried out.

Complaints about illegal encampments

Residents living near Clareabbey, between Clarecastle and Ennis, are urging Clare County Council to put immediate measures in place to prevent illegal encampments in the area.

According to reports on Clare FM, there have been ongoing difficulties with dumping in and along the Rocky Road over the past number of years.

Local Councillor Bernard Hanrahan says he has been inundated with complaints from householders about illegal encampments just off the Western Relief Road.
