Energy management workshop for Clare teachers

Primary and secondary school teachers from across Clare are being invited to register their interest in attending a course aimed at encouraging schools to reduce their energy use and save money on their energy bills.

The Clare Education Centre, Clare County Council and the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) are collaborating to run an Energy Management Course on Monday 20 October and Monday 10 November from 3.00 pm to 6.30 pm each day.

Teachers are being asked to register their interest in attending by 5pm this Friday, 3 October.

Pat Hanrahan, Director of the Clare Education Centre commented: "We look forward to hosting the Energy Management Course at our offices in Ennis. The course will see participants being guided step-by-step through the energy management process from understanding bills and energy use in the school to developing and implementing an energy saving plan. The course will also feed into the Green Schools Programme."

Joan Tarmey, Clare Environmental Awareness Officer added: "The course involves attending two half-day workshops where schools will be given access to a range of resources, online tools, expert advice and opportunities to network and share knowledge and experiences with other schools. Schools that attend courses can apply for an Assessment, Mentoring and Advice (AMA) service, including a site visit and report to assist in identifying and implementing energy saving opportunities."

"Any teacher wishing to attend is asked to register their interest on the Clare Education Service website at www.clareed.ie before 5pm this Friday. Places are limited and will be served on a first come, first served basis," Ms. Tarmey added.
