Last chance to nominate a champion of Limerick's environment

Members of the public in Limerick have just over one week left to nominate someone who they believe has made an outstanding contribution to the local environment in Limerick.

The nominations deadline for the Individual Merit Award, which is one of the most coveted prizes in Limerick Going For Gold, is Friday 15th August 2014. The award is one of four categories in the annual competition, which is hosted by Limerick City and County Council and the JP McManus Charitable Foundation.

"It is important that recognition be given to individuals for the contributions which they have made to our environment," explained Sinead McDonnell, Environment Awareness Officer, Limerick City and County Council.

She continued: "These individuals may or may not be on an organising committee but their dedication to their communities and local areas is obvious.  These are people who not only have asked what can I do for my city, but they have answered this question with their actions.  They are role models for all of us, leading by example – ‘a do as I do’ attitude to life.  In keeping with the ‘Going for Gold’ theme, special medals are commissioned year for award winners."

Nomination forms must by completed by the nominating group and submitted to the Environment Department, Limerick City & County Council by Friday 15th August 2014. Application forms may be downloaded from Limerick.ie/goingforgold or can be requested by post by calling Customer Services on 061-407190.

Limerick Going for Gold is supported by Live 95FM, The Limerick Leader and The Limerick Chronicle, Limerick Post, I Love Limerick and Southern Advertising.
