Top Aviation Awards for 6 Clare companies

The Cathaoirleach of Clare County Council today congratulated the six Clare-based companies who have claimed top awards at the Irish Aviation Industry Awards 2014.

Cllr. John Crowe said the fact that 6 of the 19 awards went to companies within the Shannon Free Zone underlined the continued "strong growth and success" of the aviation sector in the region.

The Clare winners and their respective categories include: Part M Aviation (Aviation Support Services Award), Peter Bagnell of Aero Inspection International (Upcoming Aviation Professional Award), GE Capital Aviation Services {GECAS) Ltd. (People Development Award), Shannon Aerospace (Aviation Training Award), Shannon Airport Authority (Airport Achievement Award) and Eirtech Aviation (Aviation Innovation Award).

"While passenger traffic at Shannon Airport continues to grow and management continue to make great strides since independence was achieved, the aviation sector in the vicinity of the airport is thriving and remains a significant employer in County Clare," stated Cllr. Crowe.

The Cathaoirleach added: "The Shannon Region and Shannon in particular, has for many decades been a hub of entrepreneurial aviation activity. Many had feared in recent years that the economic downturn might affect this status but these award successes show that the sector continues to prosper."

The Irish Aviation Industry Awards 2014 Gala dinner attracted almost 550 people and 150 entries from across Ireland.  For more visit www.aviationawards.ie.
