The People’s Park lifts the Christmas Spirit

The People’s Park in the heart of Limerick City will be filled with the sights and sounds of Christmas this coming Saturday (21st December 2013).

A feast of seasonal entertainment awaits members of the public who drop by between 2.30pm and 4.00pm. Santa Claus will make a guest appearance while the Boherbuoy Brass and Reed Band will also be performing a live selection of festive music.

Hosted by the Environment Section of Limerick City Council, the event will also give children the opportunity to plant some hyacinths with the assistance of Park Rangers.  Meanwhile, trees throughout the Park will be lit with Christmas lights.

“This event promises to be a wonderful festive occasion for all the family on one the busiest shopping days before Christmas,” explained Tara Flanagan, Senior Executive Engineer.

She added: “The Limerick-based Boherbuoy Band is one of Ireland's oldest and most respected brass and reed bands. They will be playing a range of festive songs to get those in attendance into the Christmas spirit. With Santa Claus stopping by with treats for the children and with tea/coffee and mince pies provided for the adults, this Saturday’s event promises to be a thoroughly enjoyable one for the entire family.”

The event is free.
