Top companies to take part in Midwest manufacturing event

Element 6, Cook Medical, Boston Scientific, Vistakon and Aughinish Alumina are among the confirmed participants in an upcoming exhibition and trade show for small and medium-sized manufacturing businesses and sub-contractors in the Munster Region.
Due to a strong demand for places at the May 29th event, Supply Network Shannon (SNS) have relocated the Manufacturing Exhibition (SME) venue from Westpark to the Oakwood Arms Conference Centre in Shannon, County Clare.

The event organisers say the exhibition will be attended by buyers from around Munster and elsewhere throughout Ireland, as well as companies and individuals seeking manufacturing and sub-contractors.

The event will also feature seminars by Ulearning Skillnet on a range of issues including Resource and Process Efficiency, Supply Chain Management and Innovation Management, while a SMILE Resource Exchange event will demonstrate how the exchanging of resources between businesses can help SME’s save money, reduce waste going to landfill and develop new business. The event is being supported by SMILE, ULearning Skillnet, Enterprise Ireland (EI), and the County Enterprise Boards and Local Authorities in Limerick, Clare, Tipperary and Kerry.

“The uptake from exhibitors has been excellent, and to give them the best possible opportunity to exhibit a decision was made to move the event to the Oakwood Arms Hotel,” commented Mark O’Sullivan, Chairman of SNS.

‘We also delighted to announce that Element 6, Cook Medical, Boston Scientific, Vistakon and Aughinish Alumina have all agreed to take part in the ‘Meet the Buyer’ section of the exhibition. Exhibitors will be given the opportunity to book time with the Buyers to discuss potential business opportunities. We are also encouraging all our exhibitors to make contact with companies to come and meet them at the event”.

Commenting ahead of the event, Shannon-based Senator and business owner, Tony Mulcahy said: “This event will help to showcase the wealth of quality manufacturing operators and sub-contractors in the Munster Region as well as win new business win business manufacturers and sub supply contractors. The event will be of interest to all manufacturing sectors, including avionics, electronics and precision engineering.”

“The manufacturing sector is one that has shown potential for real growth despite the difficult operating environment. I believe that the recent transfer of enterprise functions in the Shannon Region over to Enterprise Ireland and the IDA will prove beneficial to the local manufacturing sector in the months and years ahead,” he added.
