Ennis Town Council will host a homecoming for the Clare Under 21 Hurling Team, win or lose in Saturday’s Bord Gáis Energy All-Ireland U21HC final against Kilkenny in Semple Stadium, Thurles.
The homecoming celebration will take place from 6pm on Sunday (16 September) in the Abbey Street Carpark in Ennis. The players and members of the management team will be introduced to the crowd
Speaking ahead of Saturday’s All Ireland Final, Mayor of Ennis Peter Considine said: “The pride, passion and skill demonstrated by this group of young sportsmen during this year’s Championship is a tribute to everybody associated with Clare hurling. Win, lose or draw, the management and team have done their county proud.”
Mayor of Clare Councillor Pat Daly added: “On behalf of the people of Clare, I would like to wish the hurlers the very best at the weekend. I am confident they will repeat their Final win over Kilkenny three years ago and in doing so inspire the continued success of hurling in the county, particularly at underage level. Their performance in the Championship to date is a wonderful demonstration of the sporting talent that exists in Clare and how our young hurlers are able to compete with one of the game’s top intercounty sides.”
