The County Limerick Local Sports Partnership (CLLSP) has announced details of a new grant scheme aimed at supporting the development of sports clubs and organisations throughout County limerick.
The CLLSP is inviting applications for the €20,000 initiative which will see grants being made available for training and coaching courses and the purchase of sports equipment. Seed grants are also being offered to new sports clubs and organisations.
Commenting on the Coach Education & Equipment Grant Scheme For Clubs 2012, CLLSP Coordinator Phelim Macken explained that 5 individual grants of €1000 will be approved and a further 30 grants of €500 will be distributed to the remaining successful applicants.
“Only clubs and sports organisations that have as their central focus coach education and the purchasing of equipment to support participation levels in sport will be considered. All grants allocated under the scheme are funded by County Limerick Local Sports Partnership,” he added.
Mr. Macken noted that the Scheme was the second significant sports initiative to be launched by the CLLSP during 2012.
Limerick Sports Partnerships in conjunction with their funding partners, Limerick City and County Councils, the Regeneration Agencies and Shannon Development, hosted the ‘Good Club Governance’ seminar in February. The seminar featured leading speakers on issues such as Sport and the Law, Club Governance and Best Practice in Coaching, to help clubs across Limerick City and County to tackle the principal problems they face in their day-to-day operations.
