Funding For Two Clare Community Groups

Two community groups in County Clare have been allocated funding under the Seniors Alert Scheme, Minister for Defence and local Fianna Fail T.D. Tony Killeen has announced.

€1,080 has been allocated to Kilnaboy Community Development Association while Caring for Carers Clare are to receive €19,870.

Minister Killeen explained that the Seniors Alert Scheme provides grant support towards the cost of supplying and installing items of safety and security equipment, including personal monitored alert systems.

“Grant support is provided through community, voluntary and not-for-profit organisations registered with the Department.  Grant support is available to persons who are aged 65 years or older, of limited means and living alone or with other eligible persons”, he added.

Minister Killeen continued: “The ethos of Senior Alert is centred on continued involvement with older people within our communities and I congratulate each of the organisations in promoting and fostering community activity at a local level. The equipment funded will enable these older people to continue to live securely in their homes with confidence, independence and peace of mind”.

Grant support is provided through community, voluntary and not-for-profit organisations registered with the Department of Community, Equality and Gaeltacht Affairs.
