€1,077 has been allocated to Cratloe Community Council under the scheme, which provides grant support towards the cost of supplying and installing items of safety and security equipment, including personal monitored alert systems.
“Grant support is provided through community, voluntary and not-for-profit organisations registered with the Department. Grant support is available to persons who are aged 65 years or older, of limited means and living alone or with other eligible persons”, Minister Killeen explained.
He continued: “The ethos of Senior Alert is centred on continued involvement with older people within our communities and I congratulate each of the organisations in promoting and fostering community activity at a local level. The equipment funded will enable these older people to continue to live securely in their homes with confidence, independence and peace of mind”.
Two other Clare groups received funding under the scheme last week. €1,080 was allocated to Kilnaboy Community Development Association while Caring for Carers Clare received €19,870.
