Minister for Defence and Clare T.D., Mr. Tony Killeen has welcoming the allocation of grant aid to Kilnaboy Community Development Association under the new Seniors Alert Scheme.
€1,180 has been allocated to the north Clare group which is among 13 community organistions nationwide to receive funding.
Minister Killeen commented: “As a resident I am very familiar with the range of important work carried out by Kilnaboy Community Development Association in promoting and fostering community activity at a local level.”
“This funding allocation will support the group in meeting the cost of supplying and installing items of safety and security equipment, including personal monitored alert systems. These works will enable older people in the Kilnaboy area to continue to live securely in their homes with confidence, independence and peace of mind”, added the Minister.
Along with the preceding scheme, ‘The Scheme of Community Support for Older People’, the new Seniors Alert Scheme has allocated over €1.58m to 398 groups around Ireland this year.
Grant support is provided through community, voluntary and not-for-profit organisations registered with the Department.
