Limerick County Council is inviting members of the public to sign a book congratulating the people of Chile on the successful rescue of 33 miners from the San Jose mine this week.
Speaking following the official opening of the Book at Limerick County Hall today Cllr. Richard Butler, Cathaoirleach of Limerick County Council said: “On behalf of the people of County Limerick, I would like to acknowledge those involved in the rescue of the miners who had been trapped underground for 69 days. This a good news story that has connected with millions of people around the world who celebrated with the people of Chile in their remarkable triumph over adversity.”
“I would like to congratulate everyone involved with the rescue effort as well as the miners who showed tremendous resilience and spirit before their eventual return to the surface”, the Cathaoirleach added.
The Book of Congratulations is available for signing at Limerick County Hall in Dooradoyle, and will remain open from 9.30am to 4.30pm each day until Friday next, 22 October 2010.
