Clare County Council today signed a contract for the upgrade of Council houses in Connaught Road, Scariff.
The tender was won by Galway construction company Atlantic Developments Limited. The project funding of €850,000 is being provided by the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government.
The contract involves upgrade works to the 17 tenanted properties in the estate, including insulation, roofing, heating, windows and doors replacement.
On completion of the improvement works the properties will have a C1 Building Energy Rating (BER). Some improvement works to the public spaces in the estate are also included.
Mayor of Clare, Christy Curtin welcomed the project saying: “The improvement to the energy efficiency of these houses in Scariff will make a great difference to the comfort factor for the households involved.
“I would like to wish the contractor and the residents all the best as the works on site progress”, added the Mayor.
It is anticipated that the works on the ground will begin later this month and take 10 months to complete.
