Minister for Defence and Clare Fianna Fail Deputy, Tony Killeen has confirmed that grant aid has been allocated to three Clare schools for the purpose of providing additional accommodation.
Minister Killeen says he has been informed by the Department of Education and Skills that funding is being provided to Caherea N.S., St Finnachta’s N.S. in Sixmilebridge and Scoil Cholmcille at Clouna, Ennistymon.
“This is very welcome news for the staff, students and parents of the schools concerned. The three areas served by the schools have experienced considerable population increases in recent years, which has inevitably put pressure on class sizes”, stated Minister Killeen.
Under the funding announcement Caherea N.S. will benefit from a 1x25m2 Resource Room, while Scoil Cholmcille will receive a 1 x 80m2 mainstream classroom. St Finnachta’s N.S. is receiving grant aid for the partitioning of a prefab to accommodate a shared resource teacher.
Minister Killeen noted that the additional accommodation works have been approved as work under the 2010 Summer Works Scheme comes to an end.
