Mr Tony Killeen TD, Minister for Defence has welcomed the announcement that a top US global financial security company, Genworth Financial, will create, with the support of Shannon Development, 117 new jobs in Clare over the next 3 years.
Welcoming today’s announcement Minister Killeen said “I am delighted to welcome today’s announcement by my Government colleague, Minister Batt O’Keeffe, of the 117 new jobs for Clare. The new jobs will bring the workforce of Genworth Financial to 462, with growth expected in the operations teams.”
He added: “Genworth Financial already has significant operations in Shannon with its centre of excellence for operations, information technology and finance teams, for the company’s lifestyle protection business all located there. The company has grown from strength to strength in Shannon since its establishment in 1986”.
The Minister continued: “Today’s announcement is a major boost for the region and is a vote of confidence in the appeal of the Shannon Free Zone for companies seeking to develop and expand their European business. The work of Shannon Development is central to the national policy objective of delivering balanced regional development which is a key priority of this Government.”
Concluding Minister Killeen congratulated the president of Genworth Financial European operation, Mr Bob Brannock, and his staff and said: “I recently visited the company in Shannon and was hugely impressed by the highly skilled teams of staff. I would like to congratulate Bob and his teams for their work in growing the company and I wish them continued success.”
