Ennis Town Council has signed a contract with Mongey Communications Ltd., for the provision of a community-based closed-circuit television (CCTV) System in the RAPID Area of Ennis.
The contract provides for the installation of 13 new cameras and the upgrading of 6 existing CCTV cameras.
Work on the €342,000 project will commence shortly and is expected to be completed in December 2010.
Speaking at the contract signing, the Mayor of Ennis Councillor Tommy Brennan said: “I welcome this important project which I believe will have a very positive impact on the quality of life of local communities.”
Eddie Power, Town Clerk, Ennis Town Council added: “The project when complete will assist in the maintenance of public order and safety and enhance the existing policing provision within the community.”
