The Mayor of Clare has reminded the people of East and North Clare that the deadline for making submissions relating to the future development of their respective local areas closes on Monday August 9th.
The Draft North Clare Local Area Plan and Draft East Clare Local Area Plan were put on public display by Clare County Council in late June. Once adopted, the Plans will guide the detailed development of every settlement in North and East Clare up to 2017.
According to Mayor of Clare Cllr. Christy Curtin: “The public consultation process presents members of the public with a valuable opportunity to have their say on the future development of their local communities. I would encourage people from the East Clare and North Clare areas to inspect the Draft Local Area Plans before the submission deadline of August 9th. They will not get a better opportunity than over the next two weeks to influence the future economic and social development of their local village, town and community.”
Brian McCarthy, Senior Executive Planner explained that through the detailed land-use planning for towns, villages and settlements in East and North Clare, the zonings in the Local Area Plans will guide employment, community, recreational and residential development up to 2017.
“Clare County Council urges people and communities in the two areas to view the Draft Plans at our display locations and on our website and have their say by making submissions to Forward Planning Section of Clare Council before August 9th”, he added.
The Draft North Clare Local Area Plan may be viewed at the Ennistymon Area Office, and libraries in Ennistymon, Corofin, Miltown Malbay and Lisdoonvarna. The Draft East Clare Local Area Plan may be viewed at the Scariff Area Office and Library, South East Clare Area Office in the Westbury Centre, Tulla Library and Killaloe Library.
