Aer Arann Services Take Flight At Shannon

The first of the Aer Arann and Aer Lingus franchise flights took to the skies this week; just over four weeks after the services were announced.

Aer Lingus Regional, operated by Aer Arann, will provide direct flights to Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow and Bristol from Shannon Airport. Flights to Manchester and Glasgow will operate seven days per week, while Bristol and Birmingham will operate every day except Saturdays.

The first flight of the day was the 7am departure to Birmingham and to mark the celebration all passengers travelling on the flight were treated to a complimentary breakfast reception in the departures area prior to boarding.

Speaking at Shannon Airport this morning following the first departure Aer Arann Corporate Affairs Director Andrew Kelly said “Today signifies a new chapter both for us and for our franchise partner, and indeed for Shannon Airport as we celebrate the first flights under phase two of this franchise agreement.

We hope that the success of phase one of the franchise is emulated here in Shannon over the coming months with more and more passengers taking advantage of the choice, flexibility and convenience that these services have to offer” he added.

Also commenting on the announcement, Aer Lingus Director of Communications Declan Kearney said “Aer Lingus Regional services have enjoyed strong support from customers in the short time since their launch. Aer Lingus welcomes the introduction of these additional services from Shannon and wishes Aer Arann continued success."
