A Wexford-based Garda faces up to five years for making a false statement that she had been attacked in a taxi on her way home from a night out, according to the Irish Independent.
The Garda, 25-year-old Niamh O'Connor with addresses in Rathnure in Enniscorthy and College Park Avenue, Ballinteer in Dublin, pleaded guilty this year to making the false statement at Donnybrook Garda Station in December 2007. She has since been suspended from duty.
Judge Katherine Delahunt will hand down sentence on the 9th of July.
