Spancil Hill Fair gets underway

Huge crowds are expected at the world renowned Spancill Hill Fair, which gets underway in County Clare today.

Its one of the oldest horse fairs in Ireland with potential buyers coming from right across the globe to the one day event just outside Ennis on the Tulla road. At one time, Spancilhill was said to be Ireland's largest fair with buyers from Britain, Russia, Prussia, and France competing to purchase the best stock for their Imperial armies.
