A new model of primary care health services has been launched in East Clare.
The new East Clare Primary Care team is aimed at providing a strengthened primary care system which will play a more central role as the first and on-going point of contact for clients within the health-care system, rather than the traditional focus of health services around the acute hospital system.
The East Clare Primary care team is made up of 5 GP's and existing HSE staff who provide services to a population of approximately 9750 people including Scariff, Tulla, O'Callaghan's Mills, Broadford, Bodyke, Tuamgraney, Ogonnelloe, Mountshannon, Whitegate and Feakle, according to Clare FM News. Services are mainly provided from the Health centres in Scariff, Tulla and Broadford with the focus on health in the community, and taking people out of hospital waiting rooms.
