A new scheme to record Lough Derg's depleted pike population gets underway in Killaloe next Wednesday when a fish tagging operation is introduced by the Shannon Regional Fisheries Board and Ballina / Killaloe Anglers' Association.In an open competition organised by the association and sponsored by Clare / Tipp Properties, every pike caught will be weighed and tagged before being released back into the lake. Over 20 boats are expected to take part, reports the Limerick Leader.
Fishing takes place between 11am and 5pm.
