The Kilfenora Ceili Band will headline the Acoustic Stage at the world famous Glastonbury Festival tomorrow night (Saturday 27 June 2009).
Celebrating their 100th anniversary this year, the North Clare-based Irish traditional music group will share a bill with acts including Neil Young, The Specials, Lily Allen, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Blur, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Tom Jones, Lady GaGa, Doves, Echo and The Bunnymen, Calvin Harris and Spinal Tap. The ten-member band will also be joined by two other Irish acts, Lunasa and Lisa Hannigan.
Band leader is retired schoolteacher John Lynch and the band comprises three fiddle players, two flute players, a pianist, an accordion player, a drummer, a banjo player and a concertina player.
The Glastonbury Festival, which is likely to feature various tributes to the late 'King of Pop' Michael Jackson, has been sold out. Tickets are priced at £175 each.
