World-renowned novelist and Clare native Edna O’Brien will be honoured for her works with a lifetime achievement award tonight, Clare FM news reports.The Tuamgraney native has penned numbers books, short stories and plays. She is best known for penning "The Country Girls", which deals with women's disenchantment in the repressed Ireland of the 50's. The books were banned but went on to become best sellers.
Ms O’Brien will be presented with the Bob Hughes Award at the Mansion House in Dublin tonight.
