It is reported today that nurses in the accident and emergency department at the Mid Western Regional Hospital in Limerick have voted by an overwhelming majority to go on strike.Some 80% have voted in favour of industrial action over a lack of resources, but the Irish Nurses Organisation says it still hopes the HSE will agree to sit down and discuss the matter.
Clare is currently served by the emergency department in Limerick following the withdrawal of 24 hour cover in Ennis recently.
