Gort Businesses Apologise For State Of Town

Gort businesses are apologising to the public for the state of their town, which they say has been badly neglected.

The Gort Chamber of Commerce has erected signs on the approach roads to the town telling people they’re sorry for the state of the town, reports The Connaught Tribune. Hotelier and Chamber member, John Sullivan explained that it was a desperate measure taken by them out of “frustration that has turned into anger.”

The signs spell out what’s wrong with Gort - no public toilets, poor road surfaces, no public carparks, lack of good water - and apologises though local business people are adamant that the current state of Gort is not to do with their lack of investment but that of Galway County Council.
