Ennis Town Council today launched a new initiative to attract tourists and new business to the Clare County capital.
Promotional material aimed primarily at the tourism market and at highlighting Ennis as an investment location has been produced by the local authority who hope to enhance the profile and image of Mid-West town. Mayor of Ennis, Cllr. Peter Considine said the positive and progressive messages conveyed by the promotional DVD and brochure would help to better position the town in an increasingly competitive and challenging environment.
Highlighting the value of the brochure, the Mayor stated, “The principle aim of this promotion is to highlight the unique attractiveness of Ennis, including its pro-business environment, superior quality of life, highly educated workforce, vibrant communities, serviced sites and development land”. He continued, “Due to its strategic location on the Atlantic Corridor, Ennis is the perfect location for investment as demonstrated by US multinational Microsemi’s recent decision to expand its operations here. The town’s accessibility by road and rail and proximity to Shannon International Airport helps to emphasise its attractiveness to potential investors. The newly produced brochure also highlights the strong business support network that exists through local clusters, networks and Chambers of Commerce.”
Ennis Town Manager Tom Coughlan explained that the promotional initiative is designed to showcase Ennis as an attractive and vibrant location in which to live and do business. Mr. Coughlan added, “Ennis possesses excellent education facilities along with modern, safe and educational playschool and childcare services. These attributes are further complemented by the excellent conference and business facilities that are available supported by an abundance of quality recreational facilities. These facets are all highlighted in the new brochure.”
Commenting on the newly produced DVD, Mr. Coughlan pointed out the main objective would be to promote Ennis as a unique tourist destination and gateway to County Clare’s many attractions. “The DVD focuses primarily on the wide range of events and festivals that take place in the town all year round. Copies of the DVD will be distributed to local hotels and guesthouses and to Ennis Tourist Office. It will be made available also on local authority websites and associated links,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Ennis Town Council also launched a specially commissioned DVD today aimed at enhancing the environmental awareness of primary school children.
According to Ennis Town Clerk Eddie Power, “The key message carried in this DVD is that everybody has a role to play in keeping the town clean, tidy and litter free. This sense of community-wide responsibility is captured in the slogan ‘Your Town, Your Environment, Your Responsibility’.” Mr. Power said that the DVD would complement the Council’s existing environmental programme. He continued, “We anticipate that the DVD will also enhance the established links between the Council’s Environment Section and local schools.”
