A Virgin Atlantic plane has landed safely after being forced to make an emergency landing at Shannon Airport.
The plane was travelling to Chicago from Heathrow when the crew made emergency radio contact with air traffic control in Shannon.
Local emergency services were put on standby. Clare Fire Brigade told RTE there was no fire in the plane's cockpit as had been reported initially.
