Limerick Mayor welcomes reported truce

The Mayor of Limerick City has welcomed reports of a truce between the city's feuding criminal gangs.

Members of the rival family-based gangs have been photographed shaking hands in a move designed to reduce tensions and end the long-running feud. According to Breakingnews.ie, a number of meetings are understood to have been held in recent weeks to formalise an agreement.

Limerick Mayor John Gilligan is welcoming the move, saying it was about time that wiser heads realised they were on the road to an early grave or a prison cell.
