Clare Organisations Receive EUR400k From The Dormant Accounts Fund

The Government has approved the allocation of over EUR400k from the Dormant Accounts Fund to a variety of projects across County Clare.

Disbursements from the Dormant Accounts Fund are designed to assist three broad categories of persons - those who are economically or socially disadvantaged; those who are educationally disadvantaged; and persons with a disability.

EUR232,000 has been set aside for local projects aimed at providing training and support services for home carers. This figure represents over 15% of the total national allocation to carer organisations. Inagh Ark Preschool and Cloughleigh Community Preschool Ltd have each been allocated EUR10k under the Preschool Quality Improvement Measure for Preschools that feed into DEIS (Delivering Equality of Opportunity in School) Urban Band 1 Schools. Redeemer Pre-School, Clare Haven Services, Rí Rá West Clare Early Years and the Clare Family Resource Centre have each received EUR7,500 to undertake preschool education initiatives for Traveller children. A further EUR19,425 has been allocated to County Clare to undertake various other traveller initiatives. Elsewhere, Kilmaley Voluntary Housing Association Ltd. has been allocated a EUR100k grant to maintain existing and develop new facilities for Older Persons.

This week’s funding announcement was made by Éamon Ó Cuív T.D., Minister for Community Rural and Gaeltacht affairs and John Curran T.D., Minister of State (with special responsibility for Community Affairs and the National Drugs Strategy) at the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs.
