Legionella scare at UCH Galway

The bacterium that causes Legionnaire's disease has been detected at Galway University Hospital.

The Health Service Executive has confirmed that a higher than normal reading for legionella was identified in the hospital's Paediatrics Department last week, according to breakingnews.ie.

In a statement, the HSE said it immediately removed the affected sinks out of service and there is no risk to patients.
