Boy racers terrorise Parteen residents

Boy racers engaged in road races between Moyross and Parteen have been accused of showing scant regard for human life, by residents on Corbally Road and Athlunkard, who fear their irresponsible behaviour could result in tragedy.

It is also claimed that late night drinking sessions are taking place along the banks of the Shannon, leaving a trail of broken bottles and rubbish, the Limerick Post newspaper reports. Following complaints, gardai are treating as a priority the issue of young motorists driving at excessive speed on the main Athlunkard Road between 8pm and 10pm, and also on the Longpavement road towards Parteen.

Deputy Jan OiSullivan and Clare Cllr Pascal Fitzgerald recently raised the matter, as well as other security issues in the Corbally area, with members of the local Garda Traffic Corps. View the entire story here.
