The Gardai are continuing to investigate circumstances of a car crash, which left a gaping hole overlooking the Shannon River on Athlunkard Bridge (left) in Corbally.The Limerick Leader reports that a car struck the wall of the bridge causing almost three metres of stonework to collapse into the river below. The incident happened just over the county boundary on the Clare side of the bridge.
Reconstruction work by Clare County Council is due to begin today, over a week after the single vehicle collision took place.
