Aer Lingus talks continue

The board of Aer Lingus is meeting today to try to reach agreement on a major cost-cutting plan that could lead to up to 1,500 job losses.

The airline is understood to be planning €100m worth of cost cuts after reporting losses of €22m for the first half of this year.

The proposals under consideration are believed to include the outsourcing of at least 1,300 ground-handling jobs at Dublin, Cork and Shannon airports, as well as the use of American crews on transatlantic flights.
